Insurance and Church Trips

I would love to hear other youth minister's thoughts on health insurance and dental insurance for youth group trips. The liability question is one that I have never been completely confident on my answer on. It seems like one of the constants across the board for youth ministry is that we are all dealing with trips or gatherings with students and generally its a matter of when and not if someone is going to get injured and need medical attention. Usually its something minor and parents rarely file law suits but are we prepared in case that were to happen? I'm not entirely sure I am. Dental insurance is obviously not quite as important as health coverage but it seems like we should consider it too. I'm curious how others deal with these issues and if they have sought out the advice of people with professional legal knowledge.

Does anybody require at least short term health insurance for gatherings/trips? There's so many different questions related to this subject. If you have good tips on resources on the insurance question, let us know!
